Skywatch 26th of March

Yet another beautiful late-spring season night! A small display of auroras danced in the north and also a Stable Auroral Red-arc (SAR) was visible briefly in zenith. This unusual type of aurora is created when oxygen atoms radiate energy of hot electrons in the upper atmosphere. SAR's also emit practically monochromatic light at 630nm - 636.4nm wavelenghts.
